New squad and trailer placed into service
The Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company placed into service a 2008 Chevrolet 3500 4WD. This new squad will serve many purposes for our department ranging from pulling the air/rehab trailer, to plowing snow with it’s 8 ½ foot snow plow. The 16ft trailer features an upgrade of our mobile cascade system increasing our mobile air supply to 8 – 6000psi cylinders. This is an upgrade from 4 – 4500psi cylinders. The trailer is available for mutual aid as well as our own incidents.
New to us brush truck
The Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company has purchased another brush fire unit to compliment it’s fleet of wild land apparatus. This unit was purchased from the West Grove Fire Company in Chester County Pennsylvania. This unit is a 1984 Ford F350 with a 250 gpm skid mount pump with a 200 gallon water tank. Thank you to The West Grove Fire Company for their hospitality! We hope if we leave it out in the sun for a little while it will ripen up and turn red
Fire Company Receives Recognition
On Thursday, January 3, The Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner and the Fire Advisory Committee of the office of the State Fire Commissioner recognized the Sweet Valley Volunteer Fire Company as a bronze level participating department of the Pennsylvania Fire Service Certification Program.
The Department reached this milestone by certifying fifty percent of its active members to the National Professional Qualifications Standards, at the Firefighter 1 level. The active membership of the fire company includes eleven members certified at the Firefighter 1 level and Hazardous Materials Operations Level, two at the Firefighter 2 level, one at the Fire Instructor 1 level, three at the Fire Instructor 2 level, one at the Fire Officer 1 level, and five at the Hazardous Materials Awareness Level.
By reaching this level of certification, the officers and firefighters of the company hope to reassure the people they serve, as well as those in the surrounding communities, that their calls for assistance will be answered by a highly trained group of fire and rescue professionals.
